about the blog

I’m not one you’d typically expect to write a blog; I used to consider blogging to be a bit hipster. But I became so  intrigued with consulting – both the work (mostly IT, for now) and nomadic lifestyle - that I ultimately felt compelled to start one up.  My goal with this blog is to share any useful tips for anyone interested in the profession and write about my experiences as I undertake the journey from an analyst  to a consultant and beyond.  At the same time, I hope to garner any sage advice/warnings from seasoned veterans who want to guide me and others on the way.  Though who knows, maybe this effort will be cut short and I’ll be so burnt out by the whole experience that I’ll quit within 2-3 years.

Other things you’ll find on this blog: travel experiences, stuff about hotel/airline points, programming tips, IT-related issues/news, my personal interests (more traveling, economics, movies, classical music etc.)

about me

I recently graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Informatics. Currently, I work for a large semiconductor firm in the group responsible for managing the company’s largest, transformational enterprise application projects (ERP, CRM etc).  Starting in August 2011, I’ll be shipping off to New York City to join one of the largest IT consulting firms as a lowly grunt slave analyst.

skills/specialties: project management, systems analysis, PeopleSoft ERP 9.0, Oracle CRM On Demand, SQL, SharePoint 2007/2010, Silverlight, Java, C#

…and no, I don’t want to be like that guy in “Up in the Air”
